Rokua Geopark – spans three municipalities
Rokua Geopark begins approximately 20 kilometres from Oulu city in the municipality of Muhos, where it continues following the meandering Oulujoki River through Vaala municipality to Rokua.
Muhos is 35 kilometres south-east of Oulu on the banks of the Oulujoki river and on the scenic Tervantie route. The countryside in Muhos is varied, nestling as it does between the hills of Kainuu in the northeast and the flat plains of Ostrobothnia to the southwest.

On the border between Kainuu and North Ostrabothnia, Vaala has active connections with both of these regions of Finland.
