Discover the Rokua Geopark
Lemmenpolku (Lovers’ Path) is a two-kilometre nature trail, part of the 100 kilometre-long Tar Trail network. The views opening from the top of the red granite rock are the most impressive in the Oulujoki River Valley. The starting points of the trail are located at Active Camping Montta and in the cultural-historical Leppiniemi where the Pyhäkoski power plant, one of the largest in Finland, is located. There are two maintained campfire sites along the trail where you can sit back, enjoy a picnic, or fry up something to eat.
Learn about geology and cultural history
Along the trail there are user-friendly Geopark information boards describing the area’s fascinating geology, cultural history, and nature. A unique deposit of the Muhos formation can be found along the Lemmenpolku trail. It may be regarded as the birthstone of Rokua Geopark. The sands of Rokua and Manamansalo originate from it, among others.
Rich and varied activities
There are various activities available to those who trek along Lemmenpolku, from fishing to fat-biking and canoeing. Memorable experiences and souvenirs are offered by local Rokua Geopark businesses. The Rokua Geopark area offers accommodation from cottages to B&Bs in country manors. Local tourism at its best!
