The Rokua Geopark area is well-suited for one- or two-day hikes. Ranging from easy to intermediate level
The most important route, the 20 km long Emperor’s Tour (Keisarinkierros), sign-posted and marked with white paint is situated partly on the Emperor’s Road. The Emperor’s Tour leads through the most popular sights and natural attractions in the Rokuanvaara area.
Walking the tour takes you, for example, to Rokua National Park, an area preserved under a shore preservation programme, kettle hole Syvyydenkaivo which is the deepest of its kind in the country, Rokua’s highest elevation Pookivaara and a fireguard’s hut. The Emperor’s Tour also serves as a connection between the main service providers in the area, Hotel Rokuanhovi, Rokua health&spa hotel and Travel Centre Suppa.
Along the route there are lean-to shelters or Lappish kota huts at lakes Kirvesjärvi and Saarinen, a wilderness hut at Pookivaara, and a cooking place and a camping area at Pitkäjärvi lake. Also the Rokuanjärvi shelter is located near the route. By walking the whole route you may get a representative view of Rokua’s landscape and services.<
