From outside of Finland

1. Book a flight to Oulu airport (OUL).

There are around twenty daily flights to and from the Finnish capital, Helsinki. Helsinki has a comprehensive range of flights to different parts of the world. The Latvian capital, Riga is the other major city through which Oulu is easy to reach, AirBaltic operates from Riga to all over Europe.

Airlines operating to and from Oulu: AirBaltic, Blue1, Finnair, Flybe and Norwegian. A useful site when looking for an inexpensive flight is www.momondo.com.

2.Take a taxi to the train or bus station from the airport.

After you arrive to Oulu airport you may choose to continue your travel with a bus, a train or a rental car. To get to the bus station and the train station you will need to take a taxi. Usually there are plenty of taxis waiting for people from arriving flights right outside of the airport. The approximate cost to travel to the bus/train station with taxi is 30 euros.

3.Jump on a bus/train going between Oulu-Kajaani and buy a ticket going to Vaala.

The trip will take approximately an hour and fifteen minutes from both cities with both methods.

4.Leave bus/train at Vaala.

Vaala is already inside Rokua Geopark area! It also hosts one cultural sight called Lamminaho farm. It’s open to public during the summer months.

5.Take a taxi to the main information center of Rokua Geopark, Suppa.

The last 18 kilometers to Suppa are best covered with a taxi. The fee for a taxi trip will be approximately 35 euros.

6.Enjoy your day!

You have arrived to the main information center of Rokua Geopark, time to relax and enjoy the clean nature!

Alternatively after arriving to Oulu airport you can rent a car from a rental agency.  Contacting the rental agency prior to arrival and making the reservation in advance will ensure that you get a car you like and often saves you money.
